Description

This is a 2-3 week differentiated unit on probability, giving students the choice on how they would like to complete the unit. The 3 levels will be referred to as A Level, B Level, and C Level, with the following meanings to each level:
• C-Level: Gathering information – The material that students must learn throughout the unit. This is assessed simply as something that can be learned and applied on a simple identify and solve type of test. This is the absolute minimum students must learn.
• B-Level: Apply or manipulate that information – Students will use higher order thinking skills to apply, demonstrate, compare and contrast, or hook to prior knowledge. This requires students to not only understand the material taught in C-Level but they must be able to apply it in deeper ways.
• A-Level: Critically Evaluate an issue – Students will synthesize, critical think, or evaluate on issues pertaining to the topic. This will take the information learned in C-Level and B-Level and will cause students to take a stance on a real world topic and defend it using facts and information they learned on the lower levels.
