Description

You've taught the principles of the Constitution. Did your students "get it?" This is an active way for students to apply their understanding of the Principles of the Constitution! Students have to critically think and justify their decisions. I use this in my class AFTER a direct teach of the principles. It is now UPDATED to include a GOOGLE SlidesVERSION!

This activity is my "go to" activity for students to apply their understanding of the principles.

I've included a 2 per page (to save paper) quick definition of each of the principles. This is optional to use.

There are 3 versions of the task cards included in this purchase:

  • a regular version and
  • a modified version (that include answer choices for struggling learners)
  • GOOGLE Slidesversion.
  • All 3 sets of cards are included in this purchase.

For the paper version: This is a LOW PREP activity - just print, copy, laminate (if you have time) and cut! All cards are the same size.

  • There are several ways to use these cards - in stations, as a "scoot" review (taping them up around the classroom and having students move around to answer) or in small groups. It is up to you if you want students to use the definition sheet (included) or not.

On these 24 task cards are:

  • -primary source quotes from the Constitution
  • images
  • statements
  • All of which are examples of one (or more) of the principles of the Constitution. (Limited Government, Popular Sovereignty, Republicanism, Federalism, Separation of Powers, Checks and Balances, Individual Rights)

Also included

  • (2 per page) definitions of each of the principles.
  • Key
  • 2 different student answer sheets - where they justify their answers. The first is a regular one to answer and then justify. The second one has students answer, then justify using HASHTAGS. You choose which works best for your students. You could also just have students answer on notebook paper to save copy clicks.
  • GOOGLE Slides™ version - This is a clickable link in the PDF - you will just make a copy and place it in your Google Drive™. The google version does not included the modified choices.

If you prefer more of a worksheet assignment, see my product
