Description

This is a presentation that I use with my Yearbook class, though I am sure it is applicable to any art class that covers the principles of design. The principles that are explained and illustrated are Balance, Emphasis or Dominance, Variety and Rhythm. The presentation includes definitions and tons of examples. There is a slide at the end that asks, 'What principles of design do these illustrate?' This is where you can add your own examples (consider adding copyrighted material like famous paintings and photos, etc.), and quiz the class on what they have learned.

I used clip art or created the examples myself. Every one of them. For some examples, I was inspired by other resources, but I created the image myself. (Or the image is not copyrighted, like the patterns in the Rhythm section). Just want you to know that. I don't steal.

This zipped file includes a PowerPoint presentation for Office 2007 and earlier.
