Price Per Square Foot Webventure

This worksheet shows how division and area are used by almost everybody at some point in their life when they are looking for a home. It starts out with a description of how to calculate price per square foot including an example. It then has students use the internet to look up homes on Zillow.com and compare the price per square foot of homes in the same neighborhood. Lastly, there is space for students to look up four homes in their own town and calculate the price per square foot. It ends with a probing question on why the price per square foot varies within a town. Get students interested in applying their mathematical skills to something that will almost assuredly affect them in their adult life! Note that this will probably take 2-3 classes and would be a great mini project to be left for a sub as it is pretty self explanatory.
