What educators are saying

My class learned a lot from these materials! There was a great mix of information, as well as crafts and fun activities to keep them engaged!

Description

President Social Studies Unit for kindergarten and first grade students! Perfect for President's Day or anytime of year! Abraham Lincoln and George Washington included.

Introduce our youngest learners to two important United States historical figures: George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Then learn all about what a president does through an inquiry approach.

This is a 6 lesson unit (flexibility in length of unit and could stretch out longer or use pieces to meet your needs).

The unit centers around the compelling question: What is a president?
Lesson 1: Who is George Washington?
Lesson 2: Who is George Washington and why do we remember him?
Lesson 3: Who is Abraham Lincoln and why do we remember him?
Lesson 4: How are some presidents the same and different?
Lesson 5: What does the president do?
Lesson 6: What would it be like to be president?

Also included:
6 full lessons (complete directions, estimated times, standards, and materials listed)
3 slideshows (PPT and Smart Board) with photos, clipart images, and questions
50 pages of printable materials including writing response, cut and paste, crafts, anchor chart images, and 2 simple mini-books
Compelling Questions and vocabulary cards to display
