Description
Students will visit 4 websites, answer 19 questions, and complete an extension task to get an overview of presidential elections. The questions cover qualifications for the presidency, political parties, the nomination to election process, and the electoral college. The questions primarily come from loc.gov. There are 6 websites provided at the end for additional information/resources if needed. The answers are included where appropriate. See the preview for a closer look!
Sample questions include:
--Identify and explain a unique connection between Presidents George Washington and James Polk.
--Before visiting the next link, write down all the political parties you can think of, historic, current, or both.
--Summarize the trepidations Franklin and Madison had regarding political parties. Do you agree with either quote, why or why not?
--Summarize why/how changes were made to the primaries/nomination process.
--Why did the Founding Fathers establish the electoral college?
--How many times has the electoral college and popular vote had different results? If that happens, which nominee becomes president, the one who won the popular or electoral vote?
