Description

This full-color Sci-Fi Comic Tale helps students understand the abstract world of positive and negative numbers. Gaining entry to this world through this charming story, students get an engaging, non-threatening intro to integer concepts and skills that can otherwise be a source of endless confusion. The 16-page richly-illustrated story presents a clear way of conceptualizing positive and negative numbers that makes it easy for students to do integer computations mentally, thus providing them with a foundation they can return to whenever they're puzzled. Following the story you'll get these "goodies": a page with “Discussion Sparker” questions, three pages that explain the math displayed in the story, and a list of fun Follow-Up Activities, too. This product is just the start of a multi-stage program. Further stages of the program (for release soon) will include WorkSheets (40 problems per sheet plus answer keys), WorkMats, detailed visual instructions for using the WorkMats, instructions for making your own manipulatives in the classroom, and a link for purchasing ready-made manipulatives. But this story product can be used as an engaging STAND-ALONE for introducing this critical and challenging PreAlgebraic concept and skill.
