    Description

There are 3 polynomials activities included in this bundle. Students get practice adding, subtracting and multiplying polynomials. You can read the details of each by clicking their links below.

Brief descriptions of the activities included in this bundle:

    1: Polynomials Math Pennant Activity

This collaborative activity can be tailored to fit the needs of your students. There are 30 pennants in the entire activity. The first 20 can be used alone for a younger group of Algebra students. This first activity - multiplying and adding polynomials - is presented in terms of area and perimeter. Space is given on these pennants for students to set up the area method for multiplying the two given polynomial side lengths.

2: Multiplying Polynomials Tasks - print and digital

Given polynomial side lengths, students find areas and perimeters of rectangles while practicing polynomial multiplication and addition. Students are also asked to evaluate their expressions given a value of x. This polynomial activity links what students already know about finding areas to working with polynomials and is great for students who need visuals. Now includes a paper and a GOOGLE Forms version.

3: Combining Like Terms Blueprint Activity - print and digital

Students are given a house blueprint with polynomial wall lengths and a set of task cards. They are then asked to find lengths, such as "the length of the kitchen's north wall" or "the perimeter of the dining room", by combining like terms. My students always enjoyed this activity. Being able to combine like terms is so important and this activity makes it fun for them! All polynomials are linear; there are no exponents in this activity.

    4: Multiplying Polynomials Worksheets

Students practice multiplying polynomials in these 3 activities to find "areas" of shapes with polynomial side lengths. Topics covered:

    -- Multiplying monomials by polynomials,

    -- Multiplying binomials by binomials,

    -- What's the polynomial area?

Each activity asks students to find the "areas" of rectangles that have polynomial side lengths. To find the areas, students need to recall how to multiply exponents and raise exponents to exponents. All answer keys are included.

Understand that polynomials form a system analogous to the integers, namely, they are closed under the operations of addition, subtraction, and multiplication; add, subtract, and multiply polynomials.
