Description
This lesson will take your students to the South Pacific to explore the Polynesian sailors that sailed across the ocean! This activity includes the pattern to print and race your own outrigger canoe!
Your students will learn that many years ago, Polynesian navigators used outrigger canoes to travel across the ocean. By reading a short passage and answering questions, you can practice standardized test-taking strategies. A vocabulary page is also included, as well as a word search to reinforce the vocabulary words. There is also a template for you to print and create a passport for each student in the class, as well as a stamp so they can record their visit to the South Pacific! This activity is part of my “Geoexplorers” collection, which takes your students around the globe learning about different cultures. Each activity has a unique passport stamp, so your students can collect them. You will have them wondering “Where will they go next!”
