Description

This product contains two short (and funny!) versions of the same script on the Math topic Polygons. One script is in English; the other is the Spanish translation of the English script. Each script appears on one page in a two-column format.

The script was written to be performed by many elementary school speakers—even a whole class. Reading and rehearsing the script reinforces the names and properties of basic polygons while also increasing reading fluency and engaging students in a dramatic approach to learning facts.

The English version appears in my book DRAMATIZING THE CONTENT WITH CURRICULUM-BASED READERS THEATRE, originally published by The International Reading Association. When the book went out of print, all rights were reverted to me, so I decided to offer this script on Teachers Pay Teachers.

The script is written for several solo speakers with many parts for ALL so that teachers can use it with a whole class. Students enjoy creating and performing gestures and sound effects where indicated in the stage directions. And—because it is a script—they do not mind reading and re-reading the information.

This Curriculum-Based Readers Theatre script is one of many I have created with students and teachers across the United States. I had a Spanish speaker proof-read the Spanish copy and she gave me the go-ahead, so I am hoping that it is a helpful addition.

The script is also written for several solo speakers with many parts for ALL so that teachers can use it with a whole class. Reading and rehearsing the scripts familiarizes students with the content information while also increasing reading fluency and engaging students in a dramatic approach to learning facts.

Students enjoy creating and performing gestures and sound effects where indicated in the stage directions. And—because it is a script—they do not mind reading and re-reading the information.

For more details and tips about using these scripts with students, you may want to download the FREE copy of "CURRICULUM-BASED READERS THEATRE: A Guide to the Classroom Use of this Strategy" available in my store.
