Description

I wrote “Pollution” to teach children about this concerning problem, to motivate them to make a difference, and also to improve as readers. Click on the "Preview" button to hear a song sample. Warning: It's a little scary--because pollution is scary!

Your download includes:

1. The song "Pollution" (techno; mp3 format)

2. A karaoke version of the song (mp3 format)

3. A full-color lyric page

4. A black-and-white lyric page for student use

5. A comprehension page

6. Three choices of stationery: Lined, lined/dotted, and blank.

Note: This song is VERY fast!!! It may be a little too fast for grades pre-K and K. You can still use it, but you may want to try my "Be Green" and "Let Your Garden Grow" Earth Day packets instead (available at my "Miss Jenny's Edutunes" TPT page).

Slightly older children will love the beat and the challenge of reading with the music. They will want to sing the karaoke version independently. Through practice, they will gain reading fluency skills and comprehension of high-level academic concepts.

In order to connect this song to reading, simply give children a readable version as the song plays. You are welcome to print out the full-color version, or project it onto a large screen. I recommend handing out black-and-white versions to the whole class. Children can use these for reading practice, and to follow along as the song plays.

The content of this Earth Day song is consistent with the rigor recommended in the Common Core Standards. I’ve included a quick worksheet to help promote reading comprehension. Feel free to use prompts orally with young children, or encourage writing with older children. Next, choose the stationery that meets your students’ needs. They can write or draw about what they’ve learned, and about how they can help.

Note that this song is part of my Science Songs CD-book set. It features 36 tracks, including karaoke versions of all songs.

Thanks for your interest in my products, HAPPY EARTH DAY, and remember that Earth Day is everyday:)

Sincerely,

Jenny Fixman-Kramer
