There are 5 types of poems or formula poem activities. Why formula poems to write poetry?

  • Formula poems are a great way to get students interested in writing their own poetry.
  • There is a formula to writing the poem that gives the student structure and direction.

In this unit, students will use the formula templates and follow the scaffoldings as they develop each draft. As they go through the writing process, they will have the opportunity to collaborate, engage in meaningful conversations, and learn from each other in each writing activity.
