What educators are saying

I used this to introduce poetry again to freshman and was highly satisfied. I intend on using it again and again - well worth the money!
As a published author of 2 poetry books, I LOVE teaching poetry. Students are not always a fan, however, I got some pretty decent poems from many of my students who never thoughtt they liked poetry, or could write a poem. Thank you for such an amazing resource!

Description

44 Poetry Task Cards to Practice Common Core Narrative (Creative) Writing and Language Skills

This IS included in my mega bundle: ALL of my POETRY RESOURCES GROWING BUNDLE and in Poetry Resources Bundle, Volume 2.

My Poetry Task Cards are based on my best-selling Writing Poetry: 40 Formulas to Help Students. I offer some new exercises and Common Core alignment in this task-card format that teachers can use year after year. Students of a wide age range can benefit from writing poetry because it is a timeless activity. I love to write alongside my students to this day.

Great for students who struggle with creativity, but also for higher-level students who need more rigorous exercises. There are varying degrees of difficulty for differentiation.

The 44 poetry tasks include: haiku, diamante, cinquain, tanka, lantern, chain lantern, "I Am," bio (or biography), "I Wish," limerick, sonnet, chance, emotion, number, twaiku, poetweet, group, acrostic, redacted, 5 w's and h, grammar, reflection, senryu, five senses, "what if...," sijo, essence, ode, phoetry, ballad, epistle, rondeau, pastoral, triolet, cento, haibun, and dada poems.

Also, I included Common Core tier 3 vocabulary words and definitions so students can practice the higher-level and rigorous skills. Some of the terms include couplet, tercet, quatrain, stanza, prose, refrain, meter, iamb, dactyl, pentameter, tetrameter, and more.
