What educators are saying

Wow! This is so fun! My students had a blast! They all memorized their poem and did amazing props to go with them. It was very difficult to choose the winners.
THE BEST!!! My kids loved this...engaging and fun! So did I....will kick off our year again this year!

Description

Go for a KNOCKOUT with this POETRY SMACKDOWN EVENT!

Here's What This Event Is All About:

Students memorize poems and then present them to the class. Pairs of students have the same poem, so one gets eliminated each round. Students compete on memorization, stage presence, and expression. Speaking and Listening has never been so fun!

After each round, students are given a new poem to memorize and present until you are left with the final round! This is the big event you and your students have been waiting for! At the main event, the final contestants will present their poems and qualify for an award under different categories. This is a great event for parents to attend! Along with the final contestants, students who did a good job on their performances, but may have stumbled a bit, have the opportunity to perform as Honorable Mention students.

You will be shocked at how excited and motivated your students will be to memorize and perform their poems. Your students will beg you to let them practice.

This is also a great activity for encouraging students to cheer each other on and lift each other up. It makes for a great character building exercise!

The best part is that the work has been done for you. The poems are provided, the bulletin board is ready to put up and the steps are laid out for you in order!

What's Included?

•The Big Picture: A breakdown of what each round looks like and how to plan your event
