During our poetry unit I realized my second graders needed a lot more practice with those poetic devices!
Add these to your poetry unit and you are set!
Includes 6 centers fit for 2nd-5th grade. You can pick and choose which devices you would like to practice.
Rhyme time-make sets of rhyming words {multi syllable)
Ant Alliteration-putting cut up sentences in order {with alliteration of course}
Pack the Picnic Basket-a culminating center. Each device {alliteration, personification, metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia} has 6 examples to make a complete sandwich for each basket!
Fizz, Whizzle, Pop-onomatopoeia puzzles
Picnic at the Pond-onomatopoeia BINGO
Poetic Perspectives-match poem lines to the correct point of view (first, second, and third person)
