Poems of the Week Pack #1: September- January! Google Slides AND Print Versions

Shared reading through poetry is a fantastic way to get your class reading. This resource includes a poem for every school week from September to January, for lots of themes, seasons, and celebrations! There are 26 poems in total in this pack. Choose the Google Slides version for a digital experience, or use the Google Docs version if you plan to print the poems out. Google Docs version is totally editable, so you can customize the learning extensions OR the poems to your liking!

Each poem includes follow-up tasks that reinforce various concepts in literacy, math, science or social studies. These follow up tasks can be done in class, or sent home (physically or digitally!) for students to complete with their families.

Some examples of literacy concepts touched on:

- compound words

- spelling patterns

- rhyming words

- word families

- high frequency words

- inferring

- quotation marks

- making connections

- colour and number words
