Description

This resource is a great introduction to podcasting (podcast creation), for both upper elementary and middle school students! This resource helps students (and their partners) create a podcast project, guiding them step-by-step through their research, creation, and reflection processes.

Have you ever thought about integrating STEAM projects into your classroom? Whether you teach language arts, science & technology, or the visual arts, STEAM allows you to bring together all the elements of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) whilst integrating the arts into your curriculum. STEAM will help guide your students' critical thinking, create moments of inquiry-based learning, and equip them with problem-solving skills, in addition to creating dialogue amongst their classmates. As an art educator, I recognized a long time ago the importance of creativity and innovation when it comes to this generation of children and what it will require for them to solve problems and to better prepare them for their future career opportunities.

Students love learning how to experiment and use new creative technology! As an art teacher, I have a soft spot when it comes to STEAM projects. This particular project involves so much creativity. It creates opportunities for students to problem-solve & troubleshoot issues as a team. It also allows all students to acquire real-life skillsets when it comes to technology and the arts!

This resource helps students (and their partners) create a podcast, guiding them step-by-step through their research, creation, and reflection processes. The technology and applications you select for your students to create their actual podcasts are entirely up to you. Technology and applications are not topics discussed in the student document. However, my suggestions would be Garageband® or iMovie® if your students have access to it. Otherwise, there are many FREE platforms available for creating podcasts online.

  • Important information (NEW!)
  • Definition of a podcast
  • Important reminder: During my podcast, I must... (checklist)
