Learning Objective

Students will learn to recognize all capital letters as well as the sounds these letters make. Students will learn to read their name and their friend's names. Children will develop concept of word, rhyming, reading left to right and sight words.

Do you want to go back to school with a pocket chart center the kids will find fun and engaging? Do you love pocket chart rhymes and activities, but hate the time it takes to prepare? This set is so easy to use and you'll have a clean, neat looking pocket chart in no time.

Just print, cut, and place in your pocket chart. You will be ready for circle time or morning meeting in no time. Everything but the pocket chart is included! No wasted effort or extra materials needed and they are so easy to store in a binder.

Did you know you don’t even need to use a pocket chart for most of the activities? We often use them as magnet board activities.

Song/Rhyme: Where is My Friend? - use the editable name tags included to complete the rhyme.

Activity: Does your name have _(letter)_ in it? - A great activity to learn letters. Each day insert a new letter and have the children add their name (editable name tag included) to the correct column.

WEEK 2

Song/Rhyme: The Wheels on the Bus - Includes words and picture cards for the following: wheel, wipers, door, lights, driver, and kids.

Activity: Find the Kids - Shapes - Your kids will have tons of fun with this game while learning 2-D shapes. Hide the kids behind one of the school buses. Lots of practice with shape names without even knowing it!

WEEK 3

Song/Rhyme: Two Little Apples – The children will love to read along with this fun familiar rhyme. It makes a great rebus reader with the following pictures included: apple, apples, tree, smiled, up, down, 2, and little.

Activity: Apple Sort Sorting is a great math skill. Children will sort the apples by size or color. They can then sort by multiple properties. As the week goes on you can introduce graphing to your students. Simply remove some of the apples so you have different quantities. Have them sort, count and graph on your pocket chart.

WEEK 4

Song/Rhyme: Five Little Leaves – This rhyme includes many opportunity for numeracy skills. Several options are include to use the numeral, written number or objects to represent the numbers.

Activity: Ways to Represent Numbers to 10Make rows with the number formation card, domino, finger counting, tally marks, object counting and ten frames. Eliminate any that you feel your children are not ready for.
