Description

Don’t want to have to repeat yourself for the bazillionth time when it comes to rules for making words plural? This “Plural Noun Song” may help in that area a bit.

Why not teach or review grammar skills in a fun way that provides a song to a familiar tune to get your students smiling? This pack also includes practice of plural noun skills using flap books, interactive notebooks, and some graphing games.

This song can be taught with your plural noun lessons. When your students need to be reminded of a rule for making a word plural, you can just remind them of the corresponding line of the song. Then the student will all of the sudden repeat the line in a sing-song voice which will in turn cue the rest of the class to join in as well. A spontaneous song session! What can be happier than that?!

The Plural Noun Song lists various spelling rules along with some examples to the tune of Jingle Bells...

...one of the best songs ever!!!

The kids LOVE it and sing it WITH GUSTO as if they are at a holiday sing-along. {year-round}

INCLUDED in this set:

SONG FORMATS ~

An original song in 4 different formats

1. A big book size for whole group display – color (2 cover choices– one with holiday flair and one for year-round fun)

2. Another big book size option – ink-saver in b/w

3. Student poster sized for the projector or for homework folders

4. Interactive Notebook size – half-page

{Note: The “big book” size can be laminated or put in plastic page protectors and bound at the top with 3 binder rings to make a “flip chart”-style book for the front of the room.}

ACTIVITIES ~

• Singular and plural noun flapbook – “stand alone”

• Interactive Notebook versions of the singular and plural noun flapbook - (regular-sized and smaller-sized to supplement notebooks already in use or for those who are just trying out the Interactive Notebook option)

GAME ~

Roll, Say, Graph - Literacy and Math Game – 7 versions that each have a different focus on the specific spelling rules for making nouns plural.

INCLUDED with the game resource:

~ Directions page for the teacher

~ Directions poster for the students

~ An “I Can” version of the directions poster for the students.

(This can be placed in a center to help with student independence.)

~ SEVEN different bar graph game pages – each game focuses on a different plural noun rule, which is printed at the top of the page. The students will recognize it as a line of lyrics from “The Plural Noun Song.” This will help the students remember the rule as they sing that part of the song to themselves.

* * This fun “Roll, Say, Graph” game will keep your students’ interest high because it combines literacy with math. Also, it is a "Print and Go" activity that can be played with a partner or in a center. What more could we want?
