What educators are saying

Students loved using this resource! They found it engaging and entertaining. I loved the additional sheets for early finishers, too!
Great template to help students build their report and organize research questions on their planets.

Description

Encourage your students to delve into our solar system's 8 planets. This planet report is an easy way to incorporate writing and art into your science lesson. During this project, students will be required to create an artistic representation of one of the planets in our Solar System (excluding Earth) and research different aspects of the planet to present in a written report. All of these items will be easily graded with the included rubric.

The report will cover these topics:

  • Planet Name
  • Position in the Solar System
  • Rotation and Orbit (Revolution) Time
  • Size
  • Gravity and Weight
  • Planet Composition and Atmosphere
  • Temperature
  • Planet Appearance
  • Moons
  • How and When was the planet discovered?
  • Interesting fact
  • What would happen to a human on this planet?

This project is also included in the Space: Galaxies, Planets, and Stars Unit. The unit contains a PowerPoint, Activity Guide, Planet Report Project, Interactive Notebook, Vocabulary Pack, and Assessment.

Take a look at what some happy teachers had to say about the Planet Report.

  • "The questions are just what we need. Love the rubric-makes it much easier for teacher and students know the expectations."
  • "My students just completed this project. It made my life so much easier having everything right there for me!!"
  • "This rubric is AMAZING. I thoroughly loathe grading things that are not clear cut. This project is very in depth, but clear. I am so thankful for a project that is not only directly aligned with my Texas standards, but also fun, organized, and ready to use! I will definitely use this for our planet unit next year!"
