Description

Understand the discipline of psychology using various perspectives and research methods: Evaluate psychological research studies in terms of methods, sampling techniques, history, ethics, and generalization.

Students will read and answer questions on the devasting “Tuskegee Experiment: The Infamous Syphilis Study” by Elizabeth Nix accessed through History.com. This experiment really highlights the unfortunate study that used the placebo effect without telling their patients.

I use this study to emphasize the importance of ethics in research.

  • The assignment has 26 questions that follow along with the website. There are a few questions that students will need to research (quick google search) on their own. Those questions are pointed out in the document. The last question is a reactionary question that leads to a group discussion.
  • Key Included
  • I use google classroom and google documents so I downloaded this into a word document for the purpose of TPT. However, you can easily transfer it back to a google document if that is the platform that you use.
