What educators are saying

I used these as sub-plans. Students did the reading and then filled out the worksheet. When I returned, we went over the work together. This was helpful for those who needed extra explanations. We also used this for review before CFAs and our District Common assessment.
This was a great resource to help students review and for some students to understand what had been taught/studied in class.

    Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration Overview

    Description

This bundle focuses on the cell processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration and how create food and energy for the cell. There is a combination of hands on activities, digital interactive lessons, and review in the lesson sequence. These lessons focus on the role of photosynthesis and cellular respiration in creating food and energy for organisms and the relationship between these two cellular processes. The resources cover the equations for both reactions, the cell organelles involved in the processes, and the differences between photosynthesis and cellular respiration.

See preview for more information about each resource.

    Meets NGSS Standards:

MS-LS1-6. Construct a scientific explanation based on evidence for the role of photosynthesis in the cycling of matter and flow of energy into and out of organisms.

MS-LS1-7. Develop a model to describe how food is rearranged through chemical reactions forming new molecules that support growth and/or release energy as this matter moves through an organism.

MS-LS2-3. Develop a model to describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy among living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem.

    NGSSMS-LS1-7
Develop a model to describe how food is rearranged through chemical reactions forming new molecules that support growth and/or release energy as this matter moves through an organism. Emphasis is on describing that molecules are broken apart and put back together and that in this process, energy is released. Assessment does not include details of the chemical reactions for photosynthesis or respiration.
    NGSSMS-LS2-3
Develop a model to describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy among living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem. Emphasis is on describing the conservation of matter and flow of energy into and out of various ecosystems, and on defining the boundaries of the system. Assessment does not include the use of chemical reactions to describe the processes.
    NGSSMS-LS1-6
Construct a scientific explanation based on evidence for the role of photosynthesis in the cycling of matter and flow of energy into and out of organisms. Emphasis is on tracing movement of matter and flow of energy. Assessment does not include the biochemical mechanisms of photosynthesis.
