Description

These 107 short and long vowel phonics strips are perfect for practicing fluency in first grade. The strips target short and long vowels along with blends, inflectional endings, and digraphs. Students can use these in small groups, with a partner, or independently.

The phonics strips are differentiated to meet the needs of beginning to more advanced learners. You can put all the strips on at once, or add more strips as the students become more fluent with the easier words.

Included with each short vowel are a total of 12 strips and 9 strips for each long vowel (U has 2 extra strips):

- cover strip (Identifying the short or long vowel a, e, i, o, or, u)

- strips with short vowels and long vowels with beginning and ending blends and digraphs

- strips short and long vowels with inflected endings -s, -es, -ies, -ed, and -ing

Included are the following vowel and consonant patterns:
