Persuasive Writing Linking Words & Transitions List

Help your students with accurate use of persuasive words and specific linking/transition words for specific paragraphs.

The list helps students determine which types of linking/transition words are best suited for the first paragraph, second, third and concluding paragraphs. The list also includes the most commonly used persuasive words to include throughout their writing, such as "the truth is, the best, recommend, should, and it's a fact just to name a few! No more guessing!

The reference sheet can support students while writing persuasive pieces, specifically when grouping like ideas, and developing a way to present the ideas from beginning to end (format and organization of written presentation). Use these transitional words to show order of events and write with complex sentences to link the parts of their writing together.
