Description
Use this tool to TEACH and PRACTICE telling personal narratives! Add structure to your language therapy sessions with the mini-lesson, visuals, and practice page that are designed to help your students learn to formulate and organize stories.
This resource will guide you through explaining what a personal narrative is and what elements should be included to make the story cohesive, including background information and sequential order of events.
The same VISUALS in the lesson are then used on a PRACTICE PAGE, allowing students to APPLY the information learned in mapping out their own personal narrative. Students can use this page when writing or orally presenting their stories.
The practice page can be copied (or the digital slide duplicated) so that your therapy or teaching can be consistent as students continue to work on their narrative language skills across multiple sessions. It can also be sent with students for additional practice at home.
You'll get...
✅ A printable PDF that includes both color and black/white versions of each page
✅ A digital (Google Slides™) version that you can use in teletherapy, assign via Google Classroom, present on a smartboard, etc.
✅ An Easel activity as another ready-to-go digital option that includes fillable text boxes
This resource will assist you with making your students more proficient and confident in telling stories in conversations and writing. It's also a great tool for speech therapy students working on pragmatic language skills such as providing sufficient details for real-life situations.
