Description
A fun mini unit to teach students all about perimeter using the idea of pig pens on a farm and ends with a fun project using critical thinking! Targets the following skills:
*understanding the concept of perimeter
*finding perimeter by counting outside square units
*finding perimeter with addition math sentences
*measuring to find perimeter of 2D figures
*finding missing information to find perimeter
*using addition and subtraction (2 step problems) to find the length of a missing side
Included in this unit:
-perimeter song poster in color and B&W (original by me)
-lots of partner and group activities for practice for all of the skills mentioned above
-project: students create a 3-D model of a newly designed pig pen and find the perimeter with a math sentence
