Description

This Boom™ deck gives independent practice for a very challenging math skill - solving word problems with area and perimeter! This deck is designed to practice standards 3.MD.D.8, 4.MD.A.2 and 4.MD.A.3.

This is LEVEL 2 of this skill. If your are looking to differentiate even more, check out LEVEL 1 as part of this bundle which is easier and is more geared toward the related third grade standard:

PERIMETER AND AREA SCAFFOLDED WORD PROBLEM BUNDLE

Perimeter and Area Scaffolded Word Problems - Level 1

Perimeter and Area Scaffolded Word Problems - Level 2

Boom deck includes:

● 2 Lesson cards to review area and perimeter

● 9 fill-in and 1 multiple choice word problem

● 10 hint cards to help student who are "stuck"

● An answer document to record work

● An answer key

A key feature of this deck is that it has 10 "helper" cards providing scaffolding for students so they can complete the place value word problems independently. This means no more getting overwhelmed answering questions at your desk. If a student needs help, there is an "SOS" button that takes them to a slide which helps the student focus on the numbers and clue words used in each question. This card guides students to the method used to solve each word problem. Students build resilience as the questions increase slightly in difficulty as they move from question to question.

Related Common Core standards:

3.MD.D.8 Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.

4.MD.A.2 Use the four operations to solve word problems

4.MD.A.3 Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems.
