Percent Applications - Guided Notes
This resource includes six half-pages of percent applications - guided notes. Students can use these notes as a quick reference as they practice various types of percent problems. The notes are no prep - ready to print for your percent unit of study! The notes cover the following percent applications: Discount and Sale Price, Tax and Tip, Commission, Simple Interest and Percent Change/Percent Increase.

Discount and Sale Price Worksheets
This product is a partner activity in which students calculate the sale price of five food items. The directions ask students to round to the hundredths place in order to determine the best deal offered for an item. The second part of this activity has students calculate the sale price when a store offers 25% off plus an additional 10% off the sale price. Students are asked to determine if it would be the same sales price if 35% was taken off the original price.

Tax and Tip Worksheets
This product consists of eight real-world problems in which students are asked to calculate the tax, tip and the total bill. The first four questions are centered around one restaurant bill. Each question addresses one part of determining the total bill. This page may be used for students that are beginning to understand all the parts needed to calculate the total bill. The second page includes four multi-step problems which ask students to determine the total bill including tax and tip. Some questions ask students to calculate how much each person will pay if the bill is divided evenly. One question also asks students to calculate the change provided after the bill has been paid.

Commission Worksheets
This product consists of seven real-world problems in which students are asked to calculate commission earned. Students will examine possible commissions for careers involving real estate, insurance and retail sales. At the end of this assignment, students are asked to explain what skills would be essential for people interested in a sales career. Students are also asked to define commission in their own words.

Simple Interest Worksheets
This product consists of eight simple interest problems. Students are asked to calculate the simple interest on the first three problems. Two problems ask students to determine an error that was completed when calculating the simple interest. Three different problems require students to find the amount of time money was invested, the initial amount of a deposit and the interest rate.

Percent Change and Percent Error Worksheets
This product consists of eight real-world problems in which students are asked to calculate the percent change (increase or decrease) or percent error. Students are provided a reference for each type of problem and space to calculate the answer. Students are also asked to create their own percent change or percent error problem.

Percent Applications Assessments
Each of the six assessments consist of six questions that increase in difficulty. These assessments can be used in a variety of ways. Use them as a quick check of understanding, independent or partner practice or as a quiz.
