Description

⭐ Ready for your students to review, revise, and edit their argument essays?

Peer-to-peer or collaborative revision is one of the more effective ways for students to learn about essay fluency and taking objective advice when it comes to improving their writing.

This peer editing guide is a step-by-step process designed for a partner to complete multiple readings and revision suggestions on a peer's argument essay.

⭐ The following steps are taken in the revision process:

First read with no marks, and a short discussion

Second read to number paragraphs and underline unclear items in the essay. Peers may also write questions or commentary in the margins of the paper to express what is unclear

Third read to circle obvious mistakes, and place check marks by valid or effective points

Final read to go through a set of questions where the peer editor will respond to the efficacy of the essay in its introduction, strength of argument, citations, organization, development, conclusion, and tone. The peer editor will also respond to two final questions about strengths and improvements

✅ Two rubrics are provided for the peer editor (choose one you like) to mark the essay as is, and defend the score he or she gives the writer

⭐ By closely reading and rereading a peer's essay, the student gains confidence in the editing and revision process, and will hopefully strengthen his or her writing and understanding of the argumentative process piece.

I hope this works well for your high school students!
