Description

Quilts were an important part of life for pioneers. By looking at the patchwork patterns they designed and named, much can be learned about their lives. The Ingalls family from Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House on the Prairie books were pioneers, and references to their everyday lives, within the context of patchwork designs, makes history come alive in a unique and meaningful way.

Patchwork designs are a great teaching tool for fractions too, as well as providing opportunities to explore your own sense of creativity.

History, math, and art - Peeking into Pioneer Life Through Quilts has it all!
