Peacemakers - MLK and Gandhi Card Matching Set

This card matching set can help young students learn about two great peacemakers, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi. This set can be used many different ways to make it meaningful for different ages and ability levels. Students can match pictures of each peacemaker to their name, or they can compare and contrast each peacemaker by sorting attribute that they share, and those they don't. There is also a chart students can fill while doing this work. A control is included for students to check their work, however, to make this set more challenging, students can be asked to research each man and use their findings to match the cards and complete the chart. Pictures can also be used to introduce the concept of passive resistance.

Included with this set is a comparing and contrast chart, 9 pictures of Martin Luther King, Jr., 9 pictures of Mahatma Gandhi, 9 attributes for each man, and 9 attributes they share. There are also name labels for each peacemaker, and a control (KEY) to help students self-assess their charts.

To prolong the life of this material, cards should be printed onto card stock, cut, and laminated prior to use.
