Pax Romana
- Word Document File
Description
The lesson begins with an introduction of a golden age. Then, students are given directions for the class activity, a gallery walk. If you do not wish to do a gallery walk, you can also provide each student with a packet of the stations and they can record the content at their desks.
In the gallery walk version, students are required to visit four out of the seven stations about life during Pax Romana at their own pace. You can put 15 minutes on the clock and give students an idea of when they should move stations (after 10 minutes say, "at this point, you should now be at your second station"). Each station gives detail on a different aspect of Roman achievements (medicine, math, roads, etc.). Students are given a blank graphic organizer and they have to record evidence at each station.
Finally, students use the evidence from the gallery walk to answer a free response question. Students can choose to write a formal response or a creative response (diary entry or newspaper article).
