What educators are saying

My seconds enjoyed using this resource on our SMARTboard. Being able to manipulate the shapes helped them to be able to use the PHYSICAL shapes.

Description

"Pattern Blocks for SMARTboard Pack 1" is great for whole group instruction, small group Learning Station time, and assessment. Students will practice shapes, colors, visual discrimination, positioning, and learn a variety of technology skills including flipping, rotating, etc.

Included in this pack you will receive:
6 Overview pages describing each pattern block shape
A TOTAL OF 6 DIFFERENT PATTERN BLOCK SLIDES that have the following variations:

7 White Pattern Block Pictures for your students to create using colored pattern blocks

3 Blank Slide to create your own pictures

Instructions:

1. Students will drag & drop the appropriate pattern blocks to make the pictures.

2. Teach students how to highlight a shape and use the green circle to rotate the shape.

3. Also teach them how to right click on a shape and use the "flip" button to flip the shapes when necessary.

4. When a picture is complete, students may place their shapes in the "trash" so the game is cleaned up and ready for the next person to play.

***IMPORTANT NOTE****This is a SMARTboard file - you need to have a Smartboard in order to open this file

SPECIAL NOTE: It should be noted that it will likely take your students (especially little ones) some time to get used to using the green rotate button when they want to rotate the shapes. This is normal and is a great opportunity for them to further advance their technology skills and to find that delicate touch needed to move any objects around on the board in any file. If your students struggle a little at first it is also a good lesson on perseverance. I am adding this note because I believe some of the ratings that were less than 4.0 were from teachers who experienced this with their students. I go through it with my students every year as well but it should not be a reflection of the product or content but rather be understood as your student's learning how to use the rotate function.

Please consider leaving positive feedback in my store if you and your kids enjoy this product. My students have so much fun and I especially love the fine motor skills & technology skills they gain in addition to the Math concepts I am teaching them.

Thanks!
