Parts of Speech | A Craft to Review Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives

I created this activity because it’s the end of the year and time to review! I wanted something fun that would engage my students and review nouns, verbs, adjectives, and pronouns at the same time. And if I’m being COMPLETELY honest, I needed something to keep my students engaged so that I could pull students to complete individual phonics and reading assessments! :)

This fun gumball machine craft adds a little spark and excitement to the end of year review! And.. Of course, your students can’t complete this gumball sort without chewing their own bubblegum.

To complete this activity students will sort their gumballs into three parts of speech gumball machines (nouns, verbs, and adjectives). They will then color their gumballs based on the subcategories such as common/proper, linking/action, etc. Once all the gumballs are colored and placed on the correct gumball machine, they will then replace three of the nouns with pronouns. After completing the craft, students will record their answers on their recording sheet.

This unit also includes a review worksheet that requires students to determine the parts of speech for various underlined words in each sentence. They will also determine the noun that a given pronoun replaces.
