Parent Communication Log | Digital Google Sheets

The Parent Communication Log is a digital classroom communication tool designed to help teachers communicate with families regarding students' behavior and academics quickly and efficiently.

Here's how it works:

1. On the Notes Entry tab, the teacher will be able to input any student notes regarding their academics or behavior that they'd like to share with families (you can input notes for as many students as you'd like!)

2. Once the teacher clicks "Transfer" those notes will be transferring into students' private logs.

3. The teacher will share a unique link with families to access their children's private log.

4. Families can access their child's private log using their unique link anytime they wish! By providing a direct download link, each family can easily access a PDF version of their updated log.

The communication log automatically generates these unique links on a dedicated tab. Just share the link ONCE, and families will have access throughout the entire year. And if you prefer an alternative to PDFs, I've included instructions for sharing the logs as a webpage!

This resource accommodates up to 50 students. If you have more students, I would recommend making a copy of the entire document for different groups of students.

*Here are some important things to know before you purchase!

•In order to make this whole thing work correctly, there are Macros (code) embedded into the document. Not all macros are supported on iPad/mobile devices/tablet devices. For this product, you will have full functionality on your desktop, but not on your iPad/mobile device/tablet.

• When using this resource on your desktop, you will need to give permission for the macros to run. There will be a popup that shows up when you transfer information the first time. Simply follow the instructions that pop up and you will be good to go!
• Also, due to the amount of code required to make this Google Sheet document work correctly, it may take up to a minute or two for data to transfer into students’ logs.
• If you accidentally delete something, the sheets may not work properly, so some columns, rows, or cells may give you a warning before you accidentally edit something. Please do not delete columns or rows OR rename the tabs on the bottom
• Unfortunately, you will not be able to share the individual PDF links via Google Classroom. For some reason, Google Classroom automatically changes the link when posted so they will get access to the entire document rather than only their bank account information. HOWEVER, I included a link to instructions on how you can publish each tab to the web and share those links via Google Classroom. That means students will still be able to access their bank account; they will just access it from the web, rather than as a PDF.
