Paragraph Writing TASK CARDS

Students often struggle with essay writing, but we don't always have time for them to practice writing whole essays; it takes time.

Therefore, it is often helpful to go back to the basics: the paragraph. When doing this, students will have a more concentrated, manageable focus with a single paragraph, and they can focus on improving word choice, sentence fluency and structure.

These Task Cards each contain:

A Paragraph Writing Prompt: There are a variety of writing prompts, both narrative and non-fiction. Everything from describing the feeling of skydiving, to writing the text of a hotel's website.

Instructions: Each task comes with some guidance, helping to prompt students to think about tense, sentence length, word choice, tone, narrative perspective, intended reader etc.
