Description
Authentic Editing Practice
Help students identify and correct common writing errors in these 15 paragraphs. The errors that students will find include: spelling, homophones, subject-verb agreement, run-on sentences, sentence fragments, and capitalization. This is a great way to promote self-editing and peer editing to develop proofreading strategies.

What's Included?
In each of the 15 paragraphs there are five mistakes: spelling, homophones, subject-verb agreement, run-on sentences, sentence fragments, and capitalization. Students use a color coding strategy to edit and correct the errors in the passage. The may later transfer that same color coding to their own writing.
In addition to the paragraph editing, students also combine two or three sentences into one strong sentence. They may write the sentences to form a compound or complex sentence.
Students also solve five multiple problems on each practice page. These problems allow students to apply their understanding of adverbs, adjectives, pronouns, prefixes, root words, and synonyms and antonyms.
More Information
I’ve included a rubric on Version 2 and Version 3.
There is an answer key for the 15 paragraphs.
