Paquet de 3 unités du programme d'études sociales de 2e année pour les classes francophones et immersion de l'Alberta.

This packet contains EVERYTHING you will need to teach an in-depth study about Meteghan, Iqaluit and Saskatoon for the Alberta Grade 2 Social Studies program.

NO PREP REQUIRED!

While this unit has been adapted for French Immersion students, it can be used in Francophone classrooms as well.

Teacher lesson ideas are in English, and most website links are in English. Student printables are in French.

These resources were created to directly align with the Alberta Grade 2 Social Studies Curriculum. Everything you need is included. All 3 units are based on an imaginary ‘trip’ to each community. Each unit relies heavily on a variety of internet links, so that students benefit from visual opportunities to explore each community. The units were designed to focus on skill development, inquiry and research. There are opportunities for structured, guided and open levels of inquiry. This allows the students to synthesize the information and reflect on their learning. It also allows for critical, historical, geographic and creative thinking. Each unit was designed to last approximately 2 months. All website links, worksheets, unit test, project and activities are all included. I have made everything you will need, and have done countless hours of research.

In these units, the students will go on a 'trip' to each community. They will learn about:
Geography
Weather
Early Days
Daily Life
Languages
Community contributors
Traditions
Traditional stories
Holidays
Festivals
Natural Resources
Goods
Service
Jobs
Tourism
Environmental problems

By the end of each unit, the students will be able to answer the driving question - "What makes this community unique to Canada?"

All Grade 2 Social learner outcomes of Canada's Dynamic Communities are covered in this unit.
