Paint Your Performance with Adverbs

The introductory PowerPoint lesson will help students become more conscious of how they can add emotional intensity or provide characterization in a scene by the way they perform even simple actions. Students can then practice performing the included prompts in the PowerPoint together as group before taking turns getting on stage individually to perform the task card prompts for a fun game of charades. The adverb and verb task cards can be used in combination to create a variety of new prompts that will continue to challenge students again and again.

Objectives:
Students will improve their non-verbal communication skills and give more nuanced performances on stage.
