Description
We spend PLC and Instructional coaching time looking at site, classroom, district, and student data. What do we DO with it? How can we choose effective instructional strategies to influence student success and achievement?
Here's a PD/ PLC Cooperative Learning Activity to empower teachers to leverage the available data in professional practice!
This cooperative learning activity guides adult small group discussion to:
√ Analyze your available data from an instructional lens
√ Use Visible Thinking Frames (Higher Order Thinking from Harvard's Project Zero) to structure reflection and discussion
√ Determine & match a High Impact/ research based instructional strategy to the data
√ Move from looking at data to tangible classroom action
√ Experience a cooperative structure beneficial for students/classroom
This activity is based on the Cooperative Learning Structure: Fan N Pick, with everyone in groups of 3, 4, or 5 people. For each round, each person has a role i.e. Fan the cards out, Pick and read, Answer, and Reflect, Praise, Adjust. Roles rotate with each question.
The cooperative structure allows both efficient dialogue and equitable voice from all group members. Ideal for PLCs, faculty meetings, curriculum committees, instructional coaching, and PD/ Professional Learning sessions.
Included:
