Soccer
The children will start the unit by improving their dribbling skills with the ball at their feet with a variety of games and activities to improve their touch. They will then have fun learning how to shoot, with free kick and penalty shoot-out practise included. One skill which is so often overlooked is how to shield the ball using your body against an opponent, and we will look at how to do this effectively so as to be better at keeping possession of the ball. We will dedicate an entire lesson to positioning on the soccer pitch and how and why to stay in formation during a game, rather than chasing the ball around. Passing in triangles is so important in soccer and we will learn the art and effectiveness of doing so next. To finish we will play a soccer tournament where children will be able to showcase their new skills and enjoy all the fun that soccer brings!
