Description

In this packet, students learn that animals that lay eggs are called oviparous. Students follow step by step directions and paper cutting techniques to create a book that depicts an oviparous animal on each page as well as their eggs. There are several animals in each animal group, of course. I have chosen only one from each group. The animals included in this book are a chick, a frog, a turtle, a clown fish, a ladybug, and a garden spider. The animal groups included are birds, amphibians, reptiles, fish, insects, and arachnids.

A full color original book with real life photographs is included that can be laminated and bound into a book or imported onto your interactive whiteboard and used as an introduction to the unit.

The main idea of this activity is to expose children to the different animal groups and their eggs. The simple text is written in such a way that a young child will be able to understand and grasp the content.

Word wall words are included to aid in writing and spelling.
