I have included cloze passages because I find that they really help my students engage with the text more effectively. I like to print these and laminate or use page protectors and wipe-off markers to save on paper and ink. These readers are suitable for any first grade curriculum especially those using the Orton-Gilllingham method of teaching.There is a space for writing in the missing words within the cloze passages.
This is to help students add writing to their reading. Writing is the kinesthetic aspect of reading.
I print mine in color and use laminate them and use them in centers after I use them in small groups. But you could just as easily use the black and white versions
