What educators are saying

Christa Joy's resources are amazing! I am able to give my students a complete unit and lessons are differentiated.
This resource has been amazing for my student who takes the alternate assessment! We do not have a separate curriculum for our students and I am often having to make my own resources or modify assignments. This made teaching to the Louisiana Connectors Standards for math so much easier to prep!

Description

Ordering decimals on a number line is a great way for students to visualize that decimals are numbers that have a concrete value.

Decimals can be a very challenging subject for students with special learning needs, especially autism, to grasp.

This 2 week unit helps students understand decimals have a specific value by ordering decimals on a number line.

Includes scaffolded activities: (to the tenth place)

  • Identify the parts (whole and part) of a decimal
  • Draw decimals
  • Placing decimals on a number line that includes a picture representation of the decimal
  • Ordering decimals on a number line from least to greatest when given 3 different decimals

These decimal worksheets was specifically designed for students with special learning needs, especially autism.

There are lots of opportunities for students to practice understanding the value of decimals to the tenth place.

These activities will help build and continue to strengthen your math foundations and number sense.

Finally, many of the decimal worksheets include more than one version, suggestions for differentiation, and options for presentation.

***** There are digital versions of the activities included. There are 64 google slides which include a set fully differentiated with color-coding for more support.

Much of what I have learned about curriculum development is incorporated in these units. For example, do not be afraid of repetition. It is critical that students with significant disabilities get to experience material over several days to be able to fully assimilate what is being taught. Also, adding visual supports to your printables and class activities helps students be able to pay more attention to the content you are presenting rather than the mechanics of what is expected. Finally, ask questions. Good questions!! Regardless of the material, if we can ask students good questions it will push them to think more deeply than before.

As always please take a moment to leave feedback or post any questions you may have. Remember, you will gain credit toward future purchases on tpt as you leave more and more feedback!!

I am currently developing more units, and any feedback I get helps me make improvements in the future.
