Opinion Writing with Text Evidence & A Fine, Fine School

Do your students need to prepare for testing by writing essays that use text evidence to support their opinion? Then, this unit is for you!

This unit is research based opinion writing using "A Fine, Fine School" by Sharon Creech. The students will write either a one paragraph essay or a 5 paragraph essay on their opinion on year round school by using online research or sources I provided.

If you choose the multi paragraph option they will learn how to write an opening and closing paragraph using a hands-on lesson and anchor charts.

This packet includes:

1.Full Lesson Plans to Teach this Unit in 2 weeks time

2.Discussion questions to go with the book

3.Opinion Writing Anchor Charts

4.The Full Writing Process- You can have them read the two articles and create their writing or research and create their writing or use both!

5.You have the choice to have your students just write one paragraph (lower grades) or write several paragraphs. I have provided an opening and closing paragraph lesson if you decide to do a five paragraph essay.
