What educators are saying

This was such a helpful resource. I made them into posters and gave students color copies to put in their binders to refer back to.
We used these in our Math Interactive Notebook for use as a reference while in our fractions units and also as we spiral back through in preparation for state testing and diagnostic assessments.

Description

Are your students struggling with Operations with Fractions? These posters can be used with students to help support them to better understand how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions. These anchor charts are a great tool to display in your classroom and/or distribute to students to place in their interactive math notebooks. You can use this resource during whole-class instruction, small groups, 1:1 conferencing or even with Distance Learning by sending it to students via Google Classroom/Canvas or Email through a Link.

Reference Chart includes

  • Adding Fractions
  • Subtracting Fractions
  • Multiplying Fractions
  • Dividing Fractions

Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, 𝘢/𝘣 + 𝘤/𝘥 = (𝘢𝘥 + 𝘣𝘤)/𝘣𝘥.)
Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction or whole number by a fraction.
Apply and extend previous understandings of division to divide unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions.
