What educators are saying

I used this with my 5th grade STEM students. They really enjoyed it. We read the book first and then we did the activity with the plastic bags. We did this around Earth Day!

Description

Looking for a unique way to celebrate Earth Day?

This is a great picture book to read. It tells about the story of a woman in Gambia and how she decided to reuse the plastic bags that were all over the ground. Not only are the bags ugly, they also hurt their goats. The goats would eat them and they would die.

Can you create something useful using plastic bags?

Just grab an assortment of plastic bags (we ask for students to bring them in from home) and some tape and scissors and you are ready to go!

There are lab sheets, directions, and a research sheet. I also included a link to the website for the story.
