Description
Text books often leave students with an incomplete picture of history - both visually and information-wise. My slideshow on Ohio Native American Indians can fill the gap as either an introduction to Native Americans, an expansion to what’s in the text book, or a review when you want to wind up your studies on this part of Ohio history. The unit includes 31 slides and 12 pages of detailed script.
The first two-thirds of the slide show focus on Native American history and daily life, including:
• Paleo-Indian Period
• Archaic-Indian Period
• Woodland Period
• Mound Building
• Adena Culture
• Hopewell Culture
• Fort Ancient Culture
• Historic Tribes of the 1700s
• Clothing and body adornment
• Homes such as wigwams and longhouses
• Hunting, gathering, fishing and agriculture
• Transportation and trade
The last third of the slide show focuses on what happened to Native Americans when they clashed with colonial settlers and includes:
• The French and Indian War
• Battles at Forts Duquesne, Necessity and Pitt
• Pontiac’s Rebellion
• Outcome of the conflict between Native Americans and whites
• Proclamation of 1763
The slideshow is available as both an Apple Keynote and a Microsoft PowerPoint, and the script is available as a PDF.
