Looking for a way to tackle the tough issues in your class? In Ohio, Issue 1 (on abortion) and Issue 2 (on legalizing recreational cannabis / marijuana) are both on the ballot this November 2023. Help your students to research the topics by looking at both sides and show them actual ballot language. After helping them to become informed, it's time to decide! Are they in favor or against Issue 1 and Issue 2?
This activity is great on it's own, but it can also be a great jumping off point for a silent debate or actual debate, argumentative essay or writing assignment. Students love the role of being a voter!
Perfect for social studies, government, civics, history, political science and ELA classes.
