Bundle Contents:

1. The WHOLE-NOVEL TEST consists of 30 Multiple Choice questions and includes an Answer Key.

Question stems reflect ELA Standards and include key words and phrases such as author’s tone, text evidence, point of view, author uses the literary device, quotation best reveals, character’s motivation, impacts the plot, demonstrates the meaning, etc.

The download includes a test with answer blanks and a test without answer blanks (for Scantron/separate answer sheet use).

2. TWELVE CONSTRUCTED RESPONSE ASSESSMENTS – Students respond to a question based on their reading for every chapter of The Outsiders. The topics are varied, rigorous, and standards-based. Each question requires students to make an inference and then support it with text-based examples and details.

Each assessment contains a RUBRIC printed at the bottom of the page for easy grading. Students are reminded of the requirements while they are writing their response! The rubric is written in student-friendly language, with 2-1-0 scoring similar to most state rubrics.

A full ANSWER KEY for each Constructed Response Question provides both the inference required by the prompt and also a list of supporting details and examples that would be acceptable in a student response.
